I have a demonstrated history of devising effective legal strategies, implementing new processes, procedures & systems for the Legal Department, and reviewing and standardising contracts & forms, as well as optimising Supply Chain & Commercial Depts' interface with Legal, etc.I worked with Supply Chain to streamline the acquisition system, and to identify & codify legal obligations with Suppliers & Customers.Looking outward, I developed company policy and position on sundry legal issues, as well as ensuring compliance. Looking inward, through continual risk audit I identified corporate risk on different levels, and proposed amendments with millions in potential savings.We set up an ITAR program to ensure company compliance with US weapons export regulations, an important issue in this field, and potentially intricate.My knowledge of M&A has also been tested: together with the respective holding companies' Legal Departments, we've attended to the successful acquisition of previous Tawazun Group companies Caracal Light Ammunition LLC and Burkan Munitions Systems LLC, by Emirates Defence Industries Company LLC as part of a multi-billion $ rearrangement of the UAE military-industrial complex. I worked closely with the Managing Director to anticipate issues and mitigate risk, and my key duties were to attend to different kinds of contract, to advise on labour law, and take responsibility for MoU’s and non-disclosures, as well as claims & disputes.

We consulted on commercial law (mostly law of contract & company structuring). We focused on South African companies with projects in the UAE, and did consulting for UAE multinationals regarding MENA projects, including joint ventures and specific contracts.
