Formerly a GIS Analyst for Forsyth County Georgia

Currently working as an Environmental Scientist/GIS Analyst with Aecom. I have experience in sampling and data analysis of wetland and aquatic environments, site investigations and groundwater. I also have experience in GPS/GIS mapping, GIS data analysis, streambank erosion prediction, carbon sequestration in soils, and database management. I have extensive experience with statistical analysis in Microsoft Excel and ArcGIS. My field experience includes interior forest research, forest canopy mapping, soil sampling and testing, streambank video mapping, and use of various YUMA and GPS field equipment.
Knoxville, Tennessee Area
I am currently pursuing my Master's degree while doing streambank erosion research on Poplar Creek in Oak Ridge, TN. The objective of this research is to combine mapped streambank data with mercury data to determine areas in Poplar Creek that are contributing mercury through sedimentation. My duties include setting up and maintaining a video mapping system equipped with multiple GPS units, underwater video cameras, contour cameras, laser depth sensors, and data logging equipment. The mapping process involved kayaking through physically demanding portions of Poplar Creek. I am applying the EPA BANCS method and Rosgen's stream classification to determine streambank health and have experience working with EPA's water quality and mercury standards. I have done extensive work with data collection, data formatting, and map generation in ArcMaps and ArcGIS software as well as Microsoft Excel. I have gained valuable writing and public speaking skills from presenting my research at multiple environmental symposiums.
Received a Bachelor's of Science degree in Environmental and Soil Science with an Environmental concentration

I was involved with research regarding the sequestration and stabilization of carbon in terrestrial systems. The goal of this research project was to study the interactions between carbon sources and soils to determine if certain carbon sources can be sequestered in terrestrial ecosystems. I was responsible for preparing soils for additions of Carbon-14, analyzing Carbon-14 enhanced soils for CO2 emission, and determining CO2 respiration from these soils. I gained experience using an acid/base liquid titrator, a liquid scintillation counter, and fractionation of soils to separate different sizes of soil particles. This internship was a continuation of the previous SULI research project that is detailed in my resume.
Oak Ridge National Laboratory
I completed an internship doing interior forest research and monitoring the Eastern Hemlock population on the Oak Ridge Reservation. The goal of the interior forest research was to document where canopy breaks and forest fragmentation occur on the 33,000 acre Oak Ridge Reservation. As part of the forest research I identified and treated Eastern Hemlocks that were infected by the hemlock wooly adelgid. During this internship I gained experience using a Trimble handheld GPS unit, operating vehicles off-road, and valuable field data collection experience. I developed a revised forest canopy cover map and a summary report that detailed the specifics of the research.
Oak Ridge, Tn
I completed my own research project on the stabilization of organic compounds by sorption in soil minerals. During this project I studied the nature and extent of sorption of diverse classes of organic carbon compounds to minerals common in soils. I was responsible for preparing various organic carbon sources and soil minerals for the sorption study. The organic carbon sources were added to the soil minerals in different concentrations. I analyzed the mineral samples for total organic carbon content and utilized a Langmuir isotherm model to construct the sorption isotherms. I completed an abstract and poster detailing the results of my research and presented them at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in April of 2011.
