This position was all about supporting Enterprise Commercial clients; the Federal Government and DOD contractor clients who support Federal agencies; and agencies which use NJPA and/or NASPO. Besides my direct responsibilities I was a resource for our local sales teams in the Western US for questions or need support for their clients with UL 2050 related needs. If you need help with a PACS system that is on the APL; a SCIF or secure area; video or just a complex solution; the goal was to ensure the issues you faced and the requirements you have could be achieved. My responsibility was to ask the correct questions to determine how to best provide solutions for your challenges. This position allowed me to take advantage of my 14 yrs of Electronic Security Sales experience plus my time working for the US Army. My AOR for Federal projects covered from the Mountain Time zone to the Pacific Ocean along with AK, HI, and Guam (CONUS and OCONUS) covering the spectrum of electronic security solutions. My job was to be a trusted resource for those I work with and to bring assets to bear addressing needs in the US, Canada, and Mexico; other countries as well for discussion.

CSS went through a couple of restructurings where the person who hired me (AVP-John Shaw) had his entire level of reporting removed in North America. A few weeks later the RSM position was removed at which time I was asked to rejoin the local sales force. My focus was on large complex projects besides the type of projects I handled during my tenure as a Senior Sales Consultant. Latest internal restructurings reduced the AOR to Colorado, portions of Western NE and KS, plus Southeast WY.

Oversee a sales staff spread across 4 states and 2 time zones who are responsible for servicing parts if not all of 12 different states.

I was in Outside Sales providing Electronic Security Solutions to include Fire Alarms, Video, Intercoms, Intrusion-Videofied/ Impact Audio/ and Traditional Digital; along with Access Control. My client base was primarily Commercial-Local (Small and Large) and National Accounts with some Residential accounts. My territory included Colorado, Western KS, Western NE, Eastern WY, and Southwestern SD.During this time I developed/managed a couple of National Accounts with a variety of challenges working with a variety of AHJ's; Union/Non-Union; and extensive Fire Alarm challenges in facilities which had some systems over 20yrs old while focusing on driving local business.

I worked in Residential, Small Business, and Retention Sales. I started where I thought I knew more than I actually did to when I left, I had been ranked 6th in the West Region and 18th Nationally in Corporate Retention Sales.

I began as a Bar Manager for their Gurnee, IL site; held the position of Interim GM at a couple of locations; and was ultimately promoted to the GM position at their Niles, IL site. I read extensively on Mgmt books and Corporate philosophy that I still use in my professional/personal life to this day. I also learned a great deal about Operations from a "Hands-on" approach and the need to be able to work outside my comfort zone.
