During my time at The EV Network I was responsible for designing innovative and creative layouts for EV charging hubs in locations all across the UK which fell under a variety of different Dedicated Network Operators (DNO) with different specifications and requirements. I would also create planning packs for said layouts as well as also assisting in creating lease plans for layouts whilst collaborating with our legal team to ensure they are accurate and valid.This process involved learning the standards and regulations that we strictly had to follow when designing sites. I would achieve this by following and developing standards within the company which we used to ensure all our layouts were up to code with the national standards set by the DNO’s and the government. This would sometimes involve collaborating with our engineers in house as well as with external DNO engineers to ensure our standards are always up to date. I also would be responsible for filling out Electrical grid applications both budget and formal for all of the sites we work on. This was one of the main factors that would determine if a site would proceed or not. I would file the documents we received back from the DNOs away and fill out the respected spreadsheets with the information we get back.

During my time at Hewson's I was in charge of editing and creating a variety of different types of drawings, ranging from simple line edits to complete redraws. I worked alongside a senior CAD technician who assited me and helped me learn the AutoCAD software more in depth than what I had learnt previosly, eventually they left and I became the only CAD technician there meaning I had to manage my workload and prioritise drawings. I would communicate with the engineers to get a better understanding of what needed to be done to complete the drawing to their liking. I obtained exposure to a variety of different civil engineering concepts such as ground reinforcement, bridge construction, as well as welding drawings and concrete reinforcement drawings plus many more. I always asked questions about what I was doing to get a better understanding of the topic and to make myself more knowledgeable on the subject so I further improve my efficiency in drawing creation. I also partook in a 3 day online eductational course in Tekla Structures steel and completed it to an intermediate level.

During my time at CADSCOPE I was trained on how to use Autodesk Revit to produce technical drawings for clients. I also learnt the basics of MEP and basics on how buildings are installed with utilities such as electrical tray/ducts, plumbing, and HVAC units.
