In my current role I support the fantastic Biomedical and Life Sciences scientists at Cardiff University along the entire commercial translation pathway in order to realise significant real-world socio-economic impact for their research.

(https://www.cardiff.ac.uk/research/explore/research-units/project-sepsis)My role role in Project Sepsis was to develop high-throughput lipidomic profiling strategies to determine robust biomarkers of sepsis in the systemic circulation of patients. These methods were part of an integrative strategy for understanding the casual link between metabolism and the immune response in determining sepsis patient outcome. Together with clinical team members we also developed a novel diagnostic technology that can be translated to the clinical care pathway for improving precision in identifying and treating those patients presenting with suspected sepsis. This work is the foundation of Cardiff University spin-out PROFIONICS.

Based in the Cardiff University Lipidomics group in the School of Medicine (https://www.cardiff.ac.uk/research/explore/research-units/cardiff-lipidomics-group), I carried out research on the metabolic adaptation of macrophage cells in response to different activation stimuli, with particular emphasis in lipidomic remodelling and focus on cardiolipin.
