In this position I developed room temperature and cryogenic low-noise amplifiers for use at low frequencies, with high impedance sources. The target application of these amplifiers is mass spectrometry using nanomechanical resonators. The nano-resonators can be used as frequency mixers whose output signal provides information about the mass of any particles adhered to the resonator. The mass resolution of the sensors is limited, in part, by the noise of the attached amplifier.Testing the amplifiers and sensors also necessitated the construction of a phase detector, from custom and off the shelf parts.

Worked in the R&D department on a genetic analyzer project, designing, laying out, and assembling the analog portion of a 26-channel ohmmeter. The goal of this device is confirming that a particular consumable meets specifications.

Worked on a variety of C++ software tasks related to instrumentation control, data collection, and storage. Created a large portion of a test bench.

Worked with Colombia's Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies (IDEAM) to develop flood-risk mapping software, implementing an algorithm from IDEAM and using elevation maps from Earth observing systems.

Worked on a team to develop hyperwall software called VIEW (Visually Integrated Earth-observation Wall) specialized for data display and analysis.
