For 26 years Daniel Witthaus has worked to progress LGBTIQ inclusion in Australian schools and rural communities. He believes you can change the world one cuppa at a time.In his role with Rural Pride Australia, Daniel has led the rural engagement, facilitation and community development across 29 regional and rural communities in a 6-year partnership with the Victorian Commissioner for LGBTIQ+ Communities and Victorian State Government (www.engage.vic.gov.au/lgbtiq). More recently this has included the development, and roll-out, of the Rainbow Ready Roadmap (www.vic.gov.au/rainbow-ready-roadmap).Timeline* In 1998 Daniel developed and piloted the Pride and Prejudice challenging homophobia educational package. This package was launched in 2002, and Daniel continues to train young people, teachers and health professionals. * In 2006 Daniel joined the International Advisory Committee of the Global Alliance for LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) Education. His work has included locations such as Indonesia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Germany, Poland, the Netherlands and the United States. * In 2010 Daniel completed a 38-week Beyond 'That's So Gay' national challenging homophobia tour of regional, rural and remote Australia (www.thatssogay.com.au) and launched his first book, Beyond ‘That’s So Gay’: Challenging Homophobia in Australian Schools. * Both Beyond 'That's So Gay' and Pride and Prejudice are available through Hawker Brownlow Education - www.hbe.com.au* Daniel has developed and delivered Marriage Equality Action workshops for Australian Marriage Equality across Australia in 2010/11/12(Melb, Syd, Bris, Adel, Per, Hob and Wooll).* In January 2013 Daniel launched the National Institute for Challenging Homophobia Education (NICHE) to look at how best to tackle homophobia in regional, rural and remote areas (and outer metropolitan centres).* In January 2014, Daniel launched his latest book, Beyond Priscilla: one gay man, one gay truck, one big idea...
