During my time as a junior scientist on the Image Analysis Research team I was involved in the development of a number of primarily machine learning based algorithms medical image analysis. In some cases I worked as part of a team with a senior scientist on our core algorithms such as those for landmark detection and image registration. For shaker projects, such as the automatic localisation of viewing planes for Musculoskeletal studies, I lead the image analysis component, writing along side software engineers and clinical experts to integrate this into an application.I held this position while also studying for my MSc, writing part time during semester and full time during the summer recess over a period of three years. I resigned the position on completion of the degree to begin my doctorate.

Image Analysis Research (06/2012 - 09/2014)I served as the software engineer for a small group of researchers whose remit is to explore new algorithms for the automated detection, classification, segmentation and registration of anatomical structures and pathology in medical image data. My role in the group is to extend the frameworks used to implement these algorithms, to help improve the performance and correctness of the implementations themselves and to write applications which allow these to be evaluated by clinicians. The vast majority of projects are implemented in heavily parallelised C++ (written in a primarily functional style) using our own image analysis library, but with some prototype and data manipulation work done in Python and Matlab.Clinical Applications (01/2011 - 06/2012) My role as a member of a small team within Toshiba Medical's Applications Group, was to develop advanced clinical applications in C++ and C-sharp. While the objectives of these projects vary, they center around the interactive visualization, measurement and analysis of medical imaging data from CT, MR and PET scanners. This involves working closely with researchers in image analysis and rendering in order to make their advances available to radiologists, and other specialists, to solve their specific clinical needs.
