CurrentTeam: Coronial Toxicology. Overview: Analyse for drugs and alcohol in biological samples (e.g. blood, urine) to assist in determining cause of death. Tasks: I extract and quantify drugs from biological samples (liquid-liquid and solid-liquid extractions), and use state-of-the-art analytical instrumentation (LC-MS triple quad, GC-MS, GC-FID) to provide reliable accurate results, which are processed and entered into an organised LIMS. I process drug screens, that use GC-MS and LC-QTOF, against compound libraries using modern analytical software. I also do weekly maintenance on instruments, prepare analytical standards and controls, and assist in the registration of samples from the mortuary. All procedures follow a NATA accredited quality manual.
