Leading, Teaching, and Innovating within a student-centered, teacher-powered alternative High School seeking to reimagine the educational experience for Opportunity Youth in Phoenix. I joined an ambition team focused on leveraging the best research-based practices in project based learning and culturally responsive teaching to empower and inspire a diverse group of students. A foundation of restorative practices provides the context to undo the harm often experienced in an outdated and under-resourced education system through quality relationships and real listening. As the special education teacher leader, I am able to design schoolwide systems and provide dynamic, classroom-based instruction to meet the needs of every type of learner within our school setting.

Provided creative and consistent leadership as a part an amazing team for a 1500 person community. I served as the leader over the two distinct areas of worship arts and children's ministry. I provided vision, systems, and guidance in the complex roles of worship arts leader and children's ministry. I was honored to work with a team to recruit, train, and support over 250 volunteers for children and 50 volunteers for worship production as we sought to encourage and uplift our community.

In this administrative role, I served as the primary lead over the student services department at Marcos de Niza High School. Alongside a stellar group of teachers, we worked to provide a full continuum of special education services for the Marcos De Niza community. This complex role involved implementing detailed systems to support the special education process as a well as a maintaining an ongoing connection to the community of students, parents, and other stakeholders in order to achieve excellent outcomes for students.

Teachers are not often recognized for the amazing work they do, or supported effectively in growing in their practice. The team at MCESA sought to change that through an innovative grant focused on teacher development and evaluation. In this role, I with teachers and other stakeholders to help develop and implement a new form of evaluation in education. This complex position involved teacher development, systematic evaluation, data-based decision making, iteration through the design process, and coordinating leaders across multiple school districts. The heart and soul of this position was the one-on-one teacher coaching sessions focused on creating rich relationships and maximizing teacher potential. In addition, as a part of this role I was able to serve as the team content lead for NaCO award winning project "The Great Reading Adventure" in collaboration with the Maricopa County Library System.
