Profile bio

About Daniel Ziemianowicz, Phd

A trained molecular biologist and data scientist with a passion for biotechnology. I seek opportunities to be creative in my work and to regularly learn from others. My skills shine in both hands-on technical problem solving and communicating complex topics to audiences of all kinds. I dive deep into method and process development, and how to best convey these ideas to my colleagues. I’m currently studying how Influenza A Virus manipulates the human cell to improve its replication process, mainly the nuclear pore complex, and the associated molecular pathways. I do this by applying my expertise in cryo-electron microscopy and mass spectrometry proteomics. During my PhD, I developed protein structure analysis techniques, now used in antibody epitope discovery and pharmaceutical development. This synergy of scientific research and industry application motivates me. Through my ambitious pursuits, I’ve developed project management skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to execute my proposals. I’ve honed my skills in statistics, bioinformatics and contributed to software development and design. Some ask why I’ve changed disciplines multiple times. But I don’t see it as a change: I’m simply a self-motivated learner and I rapidly adapt to new domains. From my leadership roles in the synthetic biology iGEM competition, throughout my analytical methods-focused PhD, and now in applying high-tech imaging techniques to medically-relevant problems.See my Google Scholar for publication history.

Listed skills include Molecular Biology, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, Project Management, and 11 others.
