There’s either sustainable business or no business. Since more than a decade, I am part of collaboratively shaping the transformation towards a more regenerative and responsible economy. As Chief Sustainability Officer at SAP, I help drive SAP’s sustainability initiatives at scale for SAP and the clients we serve, in a joint effort with our partners and to the benefit of all our stakeholders. I am a firm believer that sustainability cannot be an add-on topic. For long-term success, companies need to truly embed sustainability in their business strategy, processes and operations end-to-end. It’s time to steer businesses holistically and integrate financial, environmental, and social value creation. To succeed, it’s key to move beyond compliance towards innovating business models, products and services for sustainable impact. Leading by example in our own sustainable business operations and practices, allows us to learn from our own experiences and gives us the credibility and insights to support our customers to do business more sustainably through digital solutions and services. I began my career in a small CRM start-up, Kiefer & Veittinger, as a consultant and then as a Business Unit Manager. I was employee number 32. After the company was acquired by SAP, I became Consulting Director at SAP Labs Mannheim. As Vice President, I managed the integration of SAP CRM Consulting into SAP Germany and continued to lead the CRM Consulting Division. After holding various senior management positions within SAP Consulting across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, I became part of a board project in 2008 to develop SAP’s first strategic approach to sustainability, proposing governance models and our first CO2 goal. I assumed leadership for Global Sustainability Operations, executing sustainability adoption and integration across the company and evolving, among others, SAP’s sustainability reporting to SAP’s first integrated report. Since June 2014, I act as Chief Sustainability Officer and am globally responsible for sustainability at SAP. I am chair of the board of econsense e.V. and part of the Sustainability Research Advisory Board of The Conference Board.I was named #ESG50 by Constellation Research and top #20 Sustainability Leader by Bizclick's Sustainability Magazine in 2022.
