About Daniel Lopes

For the last 14 years I've worked on, and close to, virtually all aspects of digital marketing and communications. My path began at a digital web agency, as a web developer intern, and evolved to social media and, soon after, digital strategy, with a big focus on communication in my last job as director of communications. I'm a strategist, and a problem solver, passionate about marketing, science, technology, and all things digital, and their impact on the future... of societies, business, consumer preferences, human interaction, etc.In my last two jobs, I've solidified my marketing management knowledge in two specific companies. One was with a strong focus on software product development strategy/communication, working directly with the engineering team to "digest" and make information more accessible for our clients, and strategizing/controlling all communication channels. In the second, my last job, I was responsible for all Marketing efforts and co-managed Sales alongside the CEO. I contributed directly to its business strategy, execution, monitoring, and improvements of the whole brand.

    The shortest, yet the most successful experience I've yet had in my entire career. At first, I saw an opportunity to help build a small yet interesting brand that was quite in need of basic marketing services that I could not only plan but execute.My value and experience were quickly valued and my inclusion in the decision-making process of core company topics quickly followed.In the span of 10 months, I was directly involved in the total rebranding and positioning of the company. I developed their entire marketing strategy and built their current website from scratch (not the greatest-looking website, but it works very well for the intended goals).After the implementation of the new brand, alongside the new website and content strategy, I added a third-party ad company to help us develop a new business pipeline. Data showed that some social channels were performing well in our area, so I decided to shift our efforts that way and that decision still provides value to this day.Sadly, a swift change in company policy regarding remote work made my future at the company sort of disappear, however, I'll always be very proud of what I was able to achieve in this very fruitful challenge.

    At Bodum, my role was focused on email marketing, with the specific goal of addressing and selling to, the pre-existing customer base. I was responsible for handling every piece of content that originated from different departments inside and outside the company, from the original written content to translations, images, and any other element necessary.The key aspect of this role was data analysis that oriented decision-making. A/B testing, cultural study, different media elements, send times/days, frequency. All of these, and more, aspects were constantly monitored and acted upon. This approach led to quite good results, in spite of the natural limits of that channel.

    My role at OMNIA was to build a brand from the ground up. There was no digital presence besides an HTML page at the time of my arrival, coupled with some Youtube videos that were under the old company name, "Numbersbelieve".The building of this brand started with a digital presence across target-specific channels.     My role at the Portuguese Hockey Federation had many sides and stages. At first, a brand definition was needed. All public communications were revised and adjusted (if needed) and a new communication strategy was put in place. Social media content was prioritized, as well as the digital transformation of some internal organizational processes. Building a community became the main goal, in part due to the cold relationship between the public and the Federation (a trust issue).In order to fully build a community, several trust inducing action were taken, such as live streaming on social media of tournament draws and public Federation meetings.The last aspect of this role was on the field, on event day.
