I’m responsible for defining and executing the digital technology vision and strategy that furthers Addgene’s mission of accelerating research and discovery in the life sciences. My role spans digital product development, software and platform engineering, bioinformatics, data engineering, and AI / data science. My tasks include leadership and management, but also technical architecture and individual code contributions.Since joining Addgene, I’ve had the opportunity to guide the growth and evolution of our technology area, aligning it to the organization's strategic goals and identifying new opportunities along the way. A key part of that has been building talented, collaborative teams and continuously improving our processes. I focus on understanding the needs of the scientific community we serve and leveraging the transformative power of digital technologies to meet those needs.

Medal was an early-stage startup focusing on secondary uses of electronic medical records.During my tenure, I developed Medal's technical vision while cultivating market and partnership opportunities. Specifically, I:- Architected the infrastructure and software platform for managing HIPAA data pipelines, data consolidation, and data sharing.- Conceived applications to support different data consumption paradigms.- Managed the engineering team.

As a senior member of the Informatics and Decision Support Group, I established and executed novel informatics R&D programs for the federal government to solve problems in transportation logistics and biomedical research. My specialization areas included data integration, semantic technologies, ontologies, and knowledge representation.

Harvard Catalyst supports clinical and translational research aimed at accelerating the pace of medical investigation. I was a member of the senior leadership team of the Informatics Program, which builds and operates innovative software tools nationwide.As Director of Technology and Architecture, I:- Defined overall technical direction for Harvard Catalyst Informatics, reporting to the CIO. - Set priorities, strategy, and execution plans for the organization in collaboration with the senior leadership team.- Architected key strategic initiatives such as the research infrastructure for the Football Players Health Study, a nationally-recognized research effort to examine the overall health of former athletes.- Managed and staffed various technical teams.I also held a Senior Informatics Architect position jointly with the Center for Biomedical Informatics (CBMI). In this capacity I:- Defined strategies for applying semantic technologies across CBMI and Harvard Catalyst informatics projects.

eagle-i facilitates sharing of biomedical research resources such as core facilities, animal models, stem cell lines, plasmids, and instruments. eagle-i’s open-source software is ontology-driven and is built using semantic web technologies and linked open data principles.I was recruited to be part of the original team that created the eagle-i national network. I initially joined as an informatics engineer leading the data ingest tools team. I later joined the eagle-i Consortium's Operating Committee and became chief architect in 2011. As such, I oversaw the technology that supported the expansion of the network from its original 9 institutions to 40+.

The IBM Zurich Research Laboratory is one of the European arms of IBM Research.I defined and executed research projects that would ultimately lead to patents, new products, or partnerships. I also managed relationships with IBM partners and clients throughout the project life cycle.
