Legal Assistant
Current• Provides direct assistance services to victims who have suffered direct or threatened physical, emotional, psychological, or financial harm because of violent crime, severe trauma.• Maintains involvement through outreach. • Demonstrates skill in: Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint• Answers a multi-line telephone system to assist the public.• Conducts interviews to elicit information from victims and witnesses to assure appropriate services are rendered.• Notifies and manages the court appearances of victims and witnesses to ensure their presence in the courtroom when needed.• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with law enforcement officers, officials of related agencies as well as the public.• Possesses the ability to obtain and disseminate criminal histories using CJLEADS and DCI (The Division of Criminal Investigation) applications• Assists the District Attorney and Assistant District Attorneys in preparation for court appearances and trials.• Provides training to interns on court processes, victim services assistance, and computer programs associated with this position.
