- Study and development of computerized methods and techniques to analyze medical images (OCT and AO images) to characterize the structure and function of ocular tissues - Statistical analysis of the data from the clinical trials - Support to the clinical trials execution

The PhD thesis will involve the use of statistics in ophthalmology with the application of statistical methods for the analysis of biomedical signals and images to develop support instruments for the diagnostic and clinical evaluation.

Within the Italy-USA Project "The assessment of the timing and effects of retinal neuroprotection in ABCR related retinal degenerations":- study of methods for the assessment of the retinal photoreceptors activity by use of electrophysiology (FERG and PERG) and imaging (OCT) in patients with rare retinal diseases and undertaken to neuroprotective therapies; - Development of Matlab algorithms for the analysis of retinal images for diagnostic purposes; - Statistical analysis of data from clinical trials.

• January 2010 – August 2010: CNR (National Research Council), Rome, Italy: 2nd research fellowship at the Crystallography Institute (IC) within the European Project “Biosensors and sensors for the industrial biosynthesis process of widely used commercial antioxidants: nutraceuticals as additives for food and aquaculture promoting public health (SENSBIOSYN)” Responsible for the support to the central Administrative Management within the European Project “SENSBIOSYN”.• February 2009 – December 2009: CNR (National Research Council), Rome, Italy: 1st research fellowship at the Crystallography Institute (IC) within the European Project “Ready to eat food for breakfast and sport activity with high content of nutraceutics reducing a disease risk and promoting public health (NUTRASNACKS)”. Responsible for the support to the central Administrative Management within the European Project “BEEP-C-EN: Biosensor for Effective Environmental Protection and Commercialization – Enhanced”
