About Daniela Marggraff

I am a hardworking, perfectionistic, ambitious, and disciplined person with the willingness and passion to embrace any challenges. I completed my BAHons International Relations at the University of Pretoria (cum laude) in 2022, started my Masters in the same field in 2023 (also at the University of Pretoria), which was subsequently upgraded to a PhD in 2024. I am currently completing my PhD. Between 2019 and 2021 I completed my undergraduate degree (BPolSci International Relations) with distinction majoring in International Relations and Philosophy. Currently, my research is focused on the sub-field of Foreign Policy Analysis and specifically the foreign policy of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) (otherwise known as "Large Ocean States").Apart from my studies, I also work as a researcher for the Ocean Regions Programme (ORP) at the University of Pretoria in the Department of Political Science under the supervision of Prof. Maxi Schoeman. My tasks include: researching, compiling reports, organizing conferences and colloquiums, and assisting with any other logistical support. Along with this, I am also an assistant lecturer in the department where I focus specifically on the Second Year Foreign Policy Analysis Module. Prior to this, I was a tutor for first-year students taking a module that looks at the Philosophy of Science and Epidemiology. Additionally, I have more than four years of tutoring experience, specifically with regard to children who have learning difficulties. This has allowed me to live out my passion for helping and serving others whilst constantly adapting to new circumstances. In sum, I thoroughly enjoy applying my problem-solving skills to find unique solutions and can work efficiently as part of a team or as an individual in any work environment. I am intrinsically motivated and driven by the desire to affect change.
