As a research assistant at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, I am conducting a pediatrics research project focused on evaluating the utility of second post-natal renal ultrasounds (RUS) for newborns with mild urinary tract dilation (UTD). The study aims to assess whether follow-up ultrasounds are necessary after a normal first scan, with the goal of improving healthcare efficiency, optimizing resource allocation, and reducing unnecessary procedures. By analyzing data from newborns from 2015-Present, my work contributes to refining medical guidelines and enhancing patient care. I will be presenting the findings at the Pediatric Academic Society Conference in January 2025, contributing to the ongoing dialogue around evidence-based improvements in pediatric healthcare.
