Most of my jobs as a freelancer have been using numerical models to analyse the response of offshore structures under a variety of environmental and load conditions. The key jobs include assessing the capacity of the ships operating in marine oil terminals by using the seakeeping data of different tankers and building the complete system using OrcaFlex. Additionally, I investigated the response of the terminal under survivability and normal operating conditions for a specific tanker ship.

This course prepares students to develop computer programs (using FORTRAN) to solve typical naval engineering problems, such as calculation of load lines, resistance of the ship, scantling of a ship's hull, among others.- Finite Elements: Module of the Naval and Mechanical Engineering Programmes. This course presents a general introduction to the discretisation used in the Finite Element Method, FEM. Stiffness matrices are deducted and applied for bar and beam elements with the Direct method, to analyse plane problems. The last part of the course is dedicated to learn how to use a commercial software to analyse linear structures applying FEM.

This job consisted mainly of the Oil & Gas industry projects in Ecuador (offshore and onshore). During this time, I audited an oil company's land and river transportation, using internal and national guidelines, and delivered recommendations to enhance their internal operation and maintenance processes. Due to my quick learning and proactive skills, I was soon appointed as project leaderof two projects. The first was in evaluating the structural integrity of the complete system of the marine terminal of an oil company, where I planned, implemented and carried out the fieldwork using divers and the delivery of the final report to the client. The second was coordinating the feasibility analysis of a new CBM (Conventional Buoy Mooring) for 80.000 DWT tankers for the national oil company. Ensured the compliance of the management system of a tour operator by performing internal audits of the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and the International Safety Management Code (ISM Code) at the tour operator’s office and the ship “Galapagos Explorer II” (now “Silver Galapagos”). I kept a close relationship with the maintenance, hospitality and management departments to follow up on the recommendations and the quality of the key performance indicators (KPI).

Followed up the drawings and specifications for constructing and installing the shafts and flanges of two tugs built under ABS classification rules by planning the material acquisition, tasks, time, and personnel working on these components. I conceived and implemented a new design connecting the engine and the reduction gear, as the initial design did not comply with the ABS rules.
