Daniela Costa completed her degree in Biochemistry at Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra, Portugal (2009-2013) and completed her Master in Cellular and Molecular Biology in 2016 at the same faculty. Her master thesis was in the field of neuro and cardioprotection in Metabolism, Aging and Disease Group of the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology (University of Coimbra) in collaboration with the Molecular Mechanisms of Disease Group from the Institute for Biomedical Imaging and Life Sciences (IBILI). Afterwards, a short stop in Bordeaux allowed her to work in a project about the pathophysioloy of Parkinson's disease, financed by the Michael J. Fox Foundation.Currently, she is a PhD student in CÚRAM - University of Galway, part of the ITN PMSMatTrain. Her main interests are the selective vulnerability of cortical neurons in Progressive Multiple Sclerosis.Daniela is very enthusiastic about transfer of knowledge and communiciation, thus, in her free time, she is involved in a few Science Communication project within Ireland and Portugal.
