About Daniel Abadie

I am a leading Digital Transformation consultant who has dedicated my career to helping public and private organizations navigate and thrive in the digital age. With a strong background in developing digital strategies and delivering innovative technology solutions, I had played key roles in digital transformation at the government level and in the private sector.In 2024, I joined the Center for Digital Public Infrastructure (CDPI) as Sr. Technical Advisor, contributing to the design and implementation of Digital Public Infrastructures (DPI) for public organizations a cross the world.Previously, from 2020 to 2023, I led LATAM for Public Digital Ltd., a UK-based digital transformation consultancy. During my stay, I supervised data and digital transformation projects for organizations such as the IDB, CAF, UNDP, World Bank and private entities, focusing on Latin America and the Caribbean.My career in the Argentine government as Undersecretary of Digital Government (2015-2019) marked a milestone. In this period, I advised the President on digital economy and digital transformation issues, led crucial discussions at the 2018 G20, and was in charge of Argentina’s Digital Government service. Under my leadership, innovative initiatives were launched such as Mi Argentina platform, the first digital driver’s license, and the citizen’s digital wallet, the single domain website Argentina.gob.ar, the virtual assistant Chat Crecer and the Plan National Digital Inclusion.Before, between 2007 and 2015, I was the head of digital in the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, where I played a fundamental role in the development of the single domain BuenosAires.gob.ar, the “Cómo Llego” mobile application, the citizen service and the call center telephone line 147.Internationally recognized for my influence and contribution to digital government, I was selected by Apolitical in 2019 as one of the 20 most influential people worldwide in this field. That same year, won a Webby Award in the health category for the virtual assistant Chat Crecer and stood out as a TEDx speaker, sharing my knowledge and experience in digital transformation and e-government.

    When President Macri took office on December 10, 2015, Argentina’s digital government strategy was fragmented. The national Government had more than 1,000 websites, all built in different technologies, from different vendors, and most of the content was institutional information.Argentina is one of many countries fighting to transition from an egov strategy to a digital one. On December 10, 2015, President Macri created the role of Undersecretary of Digital Government. Our one central ambition was to build a personalized Government experience for our citizens, but as the next 4 years would show us, progress wasn’t easy.During 4 years (2015 - 2019) I led, designed and implemented Mi Argentina platform, the single domain website Argentina.gob.ar, the virtual assistant for maternity and early childhood Chat Crecer and the National Plan for Digital Inclusion.Building government as a platform is understanding that the real platform is not government but the citizen. Government must learn to understand and respond to what users need.
