As a GIS specialist at the Salvation Army World Service Office, I independently created several web-based data maps using ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS StoryMaps. These data visualizations demonstrate Salvation Army’s disaster response efforts abroad with an emphasis on global conflict, violence, and recovery. My self-managed project included extensive GIS mapping and cartographic design, spatial data layer creation, dataset maintenance and analysis, and critical infrastructure support. Additionally, I assisted with the planning and development of a conference between Salvation Army Mexico and the regional territories within the US to discuss the current border crisis.

In this role, I led a research group to operationalize EDF’s 'hydrogen indicator' in order to track the renewable energy transition in China, India, Japan, Australia, UK, EU, and the US based on numerous policy-based factors. I worked closely with EDF's scientists and analysts to assess quality of international energy policy.

During this internship, I conducted extensive policy research, summarized numerous pieces of legislation, and managed various administrative tasks. This included scheduling, fundraising, updating documents, and constituent relations.

I researched and reported on religious violence and global conflicts in Eastern Europe, Africa, and the Middle East with an emphasis on social movements, peacebuilding efforts, and foreign policy tracking. I also launched a successful crowdsourcing initiative with financial goals of over $100k. This project included evaluating the nonprofit’s fundraising program, analyzing report data from several donor foundations, creative video marketing, several interviews, and a final presentation to several division heads.

I worked as a research assistant for the Political Violence Research Team at Boston College. This team consists of undergraduate and graduate students from Boston College and neighboring schools who conduct research on the Middle East and North Africa, U.S. foreign policy, and terrorism, insurgency, and political violence. In this position, I utilize research skills such as archival work, survey and content analysis, data coding, and media creation in a dynamic, cooperative environment. As a team, we contribute to a number of publications in a variety of scholarly and popular outlets including books, edited volumes, journal articles, op-eds, podcasts, and blog posts.
