In this role, I lead the Corporate Relations agenda in Latin America and Caribbean in areas of Public Policy, International Trade, Society/ ESG and Strategic Communications (Internal and External) positioning the function as a critical enabler of long-term sustainable and strategic growth across an incredibly diverse and vibrant region. I oversee a vast regional portfolio encompassing globally recognized brands, including Johnnie Walker, Don Julio, Buchanan’s, Tanqueray, Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff and Guinness, among others.

As Corporate Relations Director Daniela led the Government Relations, Communications and ESG areas, She implemented of a strong agenda in Public Policy. The initiatives implemented were key in improving company profitability by negotiating fiscal incentives and establishing the best combination among tax & logistics working closely with the supply team. At federal level she run campaigns aimed at transforming the tax, & regulatory landscape in which the company operates. Her contributions on building a sector agenda through the “Manifesto da Cachaça” and the creation of ABBD (Associação Brasileira de Bebidas Destiladas) were transformational. She served on the board of TAS as Abrabe, ABBD and ABA. Developed the ESG Strategy including the creation of Diageo Institute. Projects were developed in the Alcohol & Society areas focused on Educating for Moderation and tackling issues as underage drinking, and drink & drive. Diageo recycling project “Glass is Good” became a sector initiative. As part of the “Water for Life” strategy the first water replenishment project was implemented in Ceara. A governance for tracking progress in all Society 2030 efforts was put in place tracking evolution in environmental (carbon, water, and packaging), alcohol & society and communities. The community project developed in Ceara in partnership with the State Government inside a female prison was recognized as reference by the Justice Ministry. Daniela also led the Communications & Reputation strategy including responsibility for: reputation strategy, corporate communications, employee engagement & internal communications, crisis and issues management. Built, developed, and lead an engaged CR team besides being an active leader in promoting talent and diversity & inclusion for the entire organization as sponsor for the REACH group. She led the DIAGEO participation in the MOVER.org, most important corporate movement to promote inclusion and opportunities to black people.

As Vice-President of Corporate Affairs Daniela had primary responsibility for Government & Institutional Relationships, Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility, Communications (both Internal and External), Crisis Management and Customer Service & Post Sales. Daniela also served as President of the Council of the Walmart Institute. Daniela built the Corporate Affairs & Sustainability structures and processes in Brazil being also a member of the international team contributing to the definition and implementation of the Walmart Global Reputation Program involving the most important global issues faced by the company working with international colleagues. During this period, she led the process to build a strong reputation for Walmart in Brazil through developing and executing programs targeting Walmart stakeholders (associates, customers, authorities, press, community representatives, NGOS among other groups). The company was appointed as ‘Sustainable Company of the Year` by Revista Exame among many other recognitions and the ESG Walmart platform became a reference. Through building relationships in municipal, state, and federal levels Daniela was able to support the company’s growth both organically and through acquisitions (Bompreco and Sonae) from 25 stores in 2002 to more 550 stores 10 years later. She also represented the company interests in entities and associations where occupied leadership positions as being a board member for IDV (Instituto de Desenvolvimento do Varejo) and acting as Vice President for ABRAS.Daniela played a key role in implementing efficient and powerful engagement communication strategy to inspire employees to embrace the business performance, connect to company´s purpose and become ambassadors of the company culture.
