About Daniela Amado

I have worked in the Customs and Trade sector for 8 years and am well versed in many areas both nationally and internationally. The current trade environment requires me to stay on top of changing regulations that have shaken up the industry and it is my job to ensure that these changes are strategic and beneficial to business. My experience working in various sectors over the years has given me a broader perspective on trade matters as I have to reflect on issues and solve problems from different perspectives while mitigating risks. I was able to leverage my knowledge base when working with outside counsel for the Forced Labor Task Force in submitting official comments on federal regulatory notices under the FLSA.These are just the tip of the iceberg for many industries. As younger consumers increase their market share and begin to understand the negative environmental impacts of overconsumption and tend to invest in sustainable or second-hand products, their consumer principles are beginning to influence market trends, so policies need to adjust to these market changes. I hope that worker-centered policies can be developed to achieve equitable solutions, while continuing to recognize how trade policy impacts climate issues and rewarding sustainable initiatives. As industries take action on self-regulation, the private sector can advocate for change at the federal level. There has never been a better time to empower consumers to buy smarter, and removing unnecessary trade barriers can make purchasing easier, while also strategically utilizing tariff policies to keep America competitive and create opportunities for our global business partners. If we want to stay in business, then we must remove barriers and show consumers that we care about these issues and are in this together.I look forward to the opportunity to use all that I have learned in my career to find ways to revitalize the Customs and Trade sector.
