I am a music enthusiast driven by a passion for equity in the music industry, with a vision to establish a non-profit organization that empowers underrepresented musicians. As an artist, I believe that music has the power to unite people, break down barriers, and bring positive change in the world. Growing up in a low-income neighborhood, I couldn’t afford music lessons. In late 2016, my musical journey began with Austin Soundwaves, a non-profit El Sistema inspired program. Through Austin Soundwaves I received private lessons in viola and violin. During my sophomore year of high school, I auditioned and received a scholarship to attend Interlochen Arts Academy, where I studied Viola and Classical Guitar Performance. Under the instruction of Renee Skerik and Matthew Cochran, I ultimately decided to pursue my undergraduate studies in Classical Guitar Performance at the University of Southern California, studying with Bill Kanengiser and Scott Tennant. My passion for music equity and community engagement led me to re-establish Mariachi Los Troyanos de USC, USC's Mariachi ensemble. Through this initiative, I have been able to share the beauty and cultural significance of traditional mariachi music with a wider audience, while also providing a platform for students to showcase their talents. In addition to music performance, I am interested in the inner workings of the music industry, from artist management to audio production and distribution. My work is driven by a desire to create a more just and equitable society through the power of music. I am excited to continue exploring new ways to use music as a tool for social change and to collaborate with others who share a similar vision.
