Currently, I am a Laboratory Manager at Burnet, working with Malaria Surveillance and Epidemiology in Southeast Asia to contribute with the implementation of effective public health control measures.I have a degree in Biological Sciences and a diploma in Biotechnology. I also have a Masters and PhD in Health Sciences, majoring in Cellular and Molecular Biology, through the Renê Rachou Research Institute – FIOCRUZ – Brazil. Most of my PhD was performed at Monash University, in Melbourne - Australia.I have undertaken three distinct internships, worked as a Technical Assistant at FIOCRUZ, as a Research Assistant and Research Officer at Australia’s Monash University. I have substantial experience in mosquito biology, vector control, tissue culture, molecular and cellular biology, molecular diagnostic, tropical diseases and the interaction between pathogens and vector-borne diseases. I have also high levels of experience working in BC2 and BC3 facilities and being involved with clinical studies, as well as managing and leading a team when conducting several projects at Monash University in Australia and at Oxford University Clinical Research Unit in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I had experienced farming Black Soldier Fly Larvae while working with R&D at an industrial scale for food waste processing, and production of insect protein and fertiliser. Furthermore, I worked as a project coordinator/operations to use rapid antigen testing in industries and to implement vaccination programs.
