I love helping people, that is my passion in life, and those who are like me will agree on this: we are so lucky! The opportunities for doing what we love are infinite. It does need to get specific, of course, so the way I chose to help people is through the beautiful career of psychology. It all started with my very first job as an interpreter in medical brigades in very poor areas of my home town, Tegucigalpa, where I felt very strongly I was called to serve "the least of these". Nothing fills me more than serving those that can´t give anything in return, so then into the field of psychology, I chose to specialize in learning disabilities. I am aware of the daily struggles these kids and adolescents go through because of their disabilities, the consequences it can bring on other areas of their lives, and I also know how mentally and physically taxing it can be on their parents and teachers, so I believe my job goes beyond the one-on-one hours spent with the kids, to empower parents and teachers by giving them tools and resources to perform their tasks with more efficiency and efficacy, and make it all less frustrating and more gratifying. I must add that counseling and therapy are my favorite parts of the job: nothing goes more to the core than that! Teaching adults is also one of my passions. At my previous job, I was a trainer for over-the-phone English-Spanish interpreters (and of course, because of what that first job meant to me, interpreting is also something I really enjoy!). I was also the go-to trainer for teaching the Customer Experience course to new employees (and new trainers, too), and as a side project, I implemented a course on Emotional Intelligence, all from scratch. None of this would´ve happened if I didn´t know English, so I also teach this beautiful language to help others get their doors open to the world, just like I did! In the end, anything that has to do with helping people, no matter the age, I am all in! I bring my cheerful personality, the patience of a saint, natural leadership skills, and loads of empathy to the table. Anything that I do to develop others, will automatically develop me.
