I am a DePauw university graduate who envisions a career in international diplomacy. My passion for building multicultural relationships and multicultural conflict resolution has been confirmed through internships with the Taiwanese Department of Education, a non-profit working with recently resettled refugee families in the Louisville area, as well as research conducted in South Africa on xenophobia within immigrant communities. My degree in peace and conflict resolution has given me a foundation of knowledge in international norms and methods of conflict resolution at multiple levels including interpersonal, interethnic, and interstate. It has also helped me hone my analytical skills by examining different types of solutions within conflict situations. I have specifically conducted research in the areas of xenophobia against refugees in South Africa and the United States, particularly within the education system. I have been trained in Restorative Justice mediation and have incorporated my knowledge of RJ into the solutions presented within my research. My time living abroad in many different parts of the world has allowed me to sharpen my interpersonal and intercultural skills, as well as my language proficiency. Being a native Spanish and English speaker, proficient in Portuguese, and semi-proficient in Mandarin has allowed me to build relationships in all parts of the world. Currently living in Taipei, Taiwan and working as a teacher while sharpening my Mandarin skills.
