I am a strategic planner, management advisor, analyst, and writer specializing in major research infrastructure. I have assisted national neutron sources, light sources, and particle physics labs in securing over $150M in government funding and in developing scientific and business cases for investing in research infrastructure.

The CNBC was operated by the National Research Council until 2013, and thereafter by Canadian Nuclear Laboratories.• Developed a vision of the future of Canadian materials research, inspiring two university Vice-Presidents of Research to form a working group in 2016 with several organizations; engaged stakeholders to increase total support to 16 organizations; wrote the group’s $20M/yr funding proposal that was endorsed by the House of Commons Finance Committee for implementation in the 2018 and 2019 federal budgets.• Co-authored a proposal for a nuclear innovation agenda on behalf of a working group of executives of 20 organizations in the nuclear power sector in 2015, resulting in continuing discussions with the Ontario Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources Canada regarding cost-sharing of nuclear research.• Authored dozens of data-supported performance reports, business plans and briefing notes for federal government agencies and stakeholders, resulting in multimillion-dollar grant applications by stakeholders, in securing an alternate source for baseline funding for the CNBC, and in greater awareness of the value of neutron beams for research (evidenced by media coverage and by statements from the Minister of Natural Resources Canada, and the Ontario Minister of Energy).• Reprogrammed our database, to boost data integrity and cut data entry time by 90%.

• Consulted voters door-to-door and integrated residents’ views, winning over 80% of the vote. • Thoughtfully deliberated matters before the Council, resulting in promotion to Deputy Mayor in less than a year; in this role, I chaired Council meetings in the absence of the Mayor. • Advocated for cost-saving and safety-increasing changes to our fire department, leading to a labour arbitration decision allowing the Town to use volunteer fire firefighters. • Oversaw administration of $10M budget for municipal services, resulting in completion of several capital projects to renew infrastructure, while property tax increases were kept below inflation.• Mediated conflicts among Council members, assisted the Mayor in conflict resolution strategies, and developed compromise solutions for several contentious issues, which were adopted.• Communicated openly on controversial issues leading to positive feedback from many town residents, who indicated that I had maintained my integrity and reputation throughout the term.
