Be Power Tech developed BeCool, electricity producing air conditioners. These systems integrate fuel cell technology with liquid desiccant air conditioning. The fuel cell system's waste heat is used to drive air conditioning via phase change of water in a salt solution (liquid desiccant). The result is both electricity generation and air conditioning. Energy stored in the form of a high concentration salt solution enables the system to decouple the moment when air conditioning is generated from power generation levels.- Raised $6M in equity and debt financing from venture capital- Won $1.44M product validation grant from California Energy Commission.
