In my current role with ZEISS Group, I leverage my PhD in Medical Science and extensive research background to support the life sciences community by promoting and facilitating the integration of cutting-edge microscopy and image analysis solutions into academic, biotech, and pharmaceutical research environments. By bridging the gap between innovative technologies and practical research applications, I deliver impactful presentations and workshops that simplify complex scientific concepts and empower end-users. Through these efforts, I contribute to clinical and biomedical research and drive scientific advancements.Key Achievements:Developed and delivered the single largest software-only project in the history of the ZEISS Group, securing a significant, long-term contract with a major clinical research organization, while also engaging and delivering solutions to several key pharma/biotech companies and large academic research institutions in the UKBuilt and nurtured relationships with key stakeholders, focusing on aligning ZEISS image analysis solutions with the specific needs of scientific research teams.Acted as a technical consultant, ensuring our technologies are effectively applied to advance research in fields such as neuroscience and cellular biology.Delivered targeted conferences, presentations and scientific workshops that empowered researchers and enhanced their use of imaging technologies.

As a Life Science and Imaging Specialist at Olympus (later Evident Life Science), I provided scientific consultation and technical expertise on advanced microscopy and imaging systems to researchers and clinicians in academic and clinical research settings. My role involved acting as a scientific partner to facilitate the adoption of Olympus technology in life sciences, helping to drive research and clinical innovations.I specialized in understanding complex biological challenges and translating them into imaging solutions, supporting research teams in fields such as cell biology and neuroscience. I also worked closely with cross-functional teams to manage projects and ensure successful outcomes for scientific collaborations.

As a Senior Research Associate, I was tasked with establishing research facilities and initiating collaborations during the transition of our lab from Bristol to London. My research focused on the pathophysiology of RNA-binding proteins in neurodegenerative diseases, specifically Alzheimer’s disease and Frontotemporal dementia, and their consequences on synaptic function.In this role, I developed and optimized assays to advance our understanding of disease mechanisms, contributing valuable insights into potential therapeutic targets. Relocating from Denmark to the UK to pursue a postdoctoral role, I served as a Research Fellow at the Institute of Translational and Stratified Medicine. I conducted advanced research on pH-regulation and NMDA-receptor involvement in the pathophysiology following stroke. My key project involved developing a transgenic mouse model expressing astrocyte-specific ratiometric Cl-/H+-sensitive GFP to investigate V-ATPase-mediated pH-regulation in grey matter astrocytes, offering a more effective alternative to traditional fluorescent dyes.My research also examined the implications of white matter glutamate release, myelin damage, and calcium loading, contributing to a deeper understanding of stroke pathophysiology.My work culminated in the publication of two important papers: "HCO3 −-independent pH Regulation in Astrocytes in Situ Is Dominated by V-ATPase," which received the "Paper of the Week" award in the Journal of Biological Chemistry, and "Vesicular Glutamate Release from Central Axons Contributes to Myelin Damage," published in Nature Communications. These findings underscore the significance of our research for therapeutic development.In addition to conducting independent primary research, I directed and mentored PhD students and research placements, fostering collaboration and scientific growth within the team. I also focused on integrating research insights into clinical contexts, ensuring our findings could inform future therapeutic strategies and enhance patient outcomes in stroke care.
