What motivates me about project management is that every project and every day are different with its own set of unique challenges and learning opportunities. Throughout my career I have been very fortunate to work on some amazing projects that have enabled me to see the world and experience many different cultures but more importantly I've had a chance to work with some really talented people to solve complex business problems. Associate Director, Sap Deployment

Luzern, Switzerland

I think what defines my time as the SAP European Deployment Lead was the ability to successfully implement SAP's Source to Settle functionality to 15 European countries. It was a unique challenge with each implementation having it's own resource and timeline challenges but more complex was gaining an appreciation for the country specific business models, legal requirements and cultural differences and then trying to transform these differences into a single global business process. Luckily I worked with a very talented and motivated team that made this challenge fun and rewarding. My specific area of responsibility was the technical implementation of the Source to Settle business process which included Sourcing Management, Procurement, Accounts Payable, Expense Management and associated master data elements. As the deployment lead I was responsible for managing the complete project lifecycle including requirements gathering, design, build, testing, implementation and post go-live hypercard support. I also was heavily involved with Data Migration activities during this time which included accessing the state of master data in the legacy systems, building data conversion strategies, authoring data conversion specifications and also testing.

It Process Lead - Sap Procurement

Luzern, Switzerland

During my time as the IP Process Lead for Indirect Procurement I was responsible for leading the technical team in implementing SAP's SRM and E-sourcing functionality to five countries within Europe. In addition to gaining more project management experience I was also able to learn a great deal about the Procurement and Sourcing business processes. Some specific areas I gained experience in were internal and external catalog setup, shopping cart to purchase order workflow and vendor master data.

It Process Lead - Sap Travel And Expense Management

Cokesbury, Nj

I stepped into this role during the very early stages of Merck's SAP project and at a time period where we were just developing a single global business process for Expense Report Management. It was an exciting time period because I got a chance to work closely with business owners and technical specialists in designing a global process which would be used throughout the world at Merck for years to come. During my three years as the Expense Reporting IT Lead, I served as the project manager responsible for the requirements, design and technical build activities. Highlights include building an interface with American Express which imported thousands of credit card transactions on a daily basis, design and build of a workflow solution which integrated a third party auditing company and the implementation of fully electronic receipt submission process which eliminated the need for mailing physical receipts and reducing overall cycle time.

It Project Manager - Hr Peoplesoft

Cokesbury, Nj

Managed a portfolio of small to midsize HR projects, primarily dealing with PeopleSoft's Self Service web functionality. This experience enabled me to further build my project manager skills by dealing with the challenges of managing multiple projects at the same time. I also got to further development my understanding of PeopleSoft and the HR business process.

It Project Manager - Hr Peoplesoft (Tokyo, Japan)

Tokyo, Japan

My time in Tokyo implementing PeopleSoft as part of a global project team was perhaps my most challenging and rewarding project of my career. This was my first intentional experience as a Project Manager and I learned so much about the softer skills needed in such a project. Dealing with language, cultural, and working differences and adjusting my own style so that I could be more effective. Our project team was mainly located and the US and Tokyo and at the end of the project I'm proud to say we were recognized as a finalist for Merck's Excellence in Diversity Award for the team's efforts to effectively manage an international implementation with a culturally diverse project team.
