In this role, I was responsible for managing the finances, operations and strategic planning of three distinct business units for a 1 year term. This included managing 10 full time managers and over 60 part time staff.Some key challenges throughout my term included:- A new business unit in its second operating year was projected to post an operating deficit that exceeded half of total revenue. Under my leadership, my team worked to restructure costs, redesign the pricing model, and modify the line of services offered. We were reduced the projected and actual deficit by more than 75%. - Issues of an unproductive culture were addressed through training, close monitoring, and the establishment of focused objectives.- Personnel issues required a lot of attention, and proved to be incredible learning opportunities.Responsibilities included:• Implementing a custom POS system to accommodate unique operational activities• Recognizing and taking advantage of opportunities for three distinct business units, resulting in net contribution growth of 44% in one unit• Creating and ensuring adherence to budgets consisting of $2 million in annual expenses, resulting in a discrepancy between actual and budgeted expenses of less than 1%• Implementing specific inventory control processes to enhance accuracy of financial reporting • Contributing to the creation of HR and operational policies in order to clarify misconceptions and protect the legal interests of the corporation• Advocating for the interests of the units I oversaw as a member of the Board of Directors• Negotiated with suppliers and service providers to minimize costs and correct issues that could jeopardize customer satisfaction
