EMT for the 911 ambulance service covering the 30,000 people and 429 square miles of Ashe County (~6,500 calls/year). Responsible for ensuring our truck was stocked, clean, and ready for calls. Assessed and treated alongside a Medic on ALS calls and ensured rapid and safe transport to definitive care. Assessed and treated on BLS calls on scene and while en route to definitive care.

Volunteer EMT-B at Deep Gap Volunteer Fire Department. Responded to medical, fire, collision, and calls for service within our 36 square mile district. Secured scenes, provided BLS primary care, and radio communications before transferring care to arriving ALS ambulance. Led medical in-service training for EMTs and debriefed members after medical calls.Notable achievements include: Team Leader on a BLS cardiac arrest save with positive neuro-outcomes; successful resuscitation of a 'blue baby,' delivered with an APGAR of 2, transferred to ALS care with an APGAR of 10; and a pediatric respiratory arrest resuscitation.

Worked in a group home facility for those with severe Intelectual and Developmental Disabilities. While on shift, I am directly responsible for the long-term and emergency care of all fifteen residents in the home.Oversaw all staff on shift, and made work schedules. Ensured that the home was well stocked with food and PPE. Oversaw all resident appointments and managed transportation to and from the appointments.

Selected as the Watauga Residential College’s first Director of Peer Advising. Worked closely with faculty members to design Watauga’s first peer advising program and researched peer advising programs at other universities to learn about program structure. Developed an application and hiring process and hired three peer advisors, all of which reported directly to me. Developed a comprehensive training guide for new peer advisors. Co-taught a 1 credit hour class for hired peer advisors. Led approximately 250 first-year and transfer students through orientation at Appalachian State each summer. Guided 25 students each orientation session. Delivered large group presentations to students and parents on University life, essential policies, and curriculum and worked one on one with students to ensure they had a productive first year schedule. Helped to develop a syllabus and relevant assignments to achieve course curriculum. Taught classes on portfolio building, professional writing, and the creative writing process. Took daily attendance and ensured all students in the class understood academic expectations. Hosted weekly walk-in 'help-sessions' for students on their assignments and reports.

Worked as a bike technician for Boone’s first and only no-cost, community-based bike repair shop. Promoted safe cycling in the Boone community. Trained new Bike App Technicians.

United Renewable Energy develops, designs, builds and maintains solar photovoltaic and energy storage systems for utilities, industrial and commercial companies, Independent Power Producers, and Electrical Membership Co-operatives.Worked on patent filing for an innovative residential power system. Identified and began commercial discussions with parts suppliers.Performed site selection research for commercial-scale solar installations using ‘wildcatting’. Site selection process required social, physical, economic, and political attributes to be considered.
