His GradeDec tool (developed for FRA) is widely used by States and MPOs for the benefit-cost analysis and prioritization of highway-rail grade crossing (HRGC) solutions across the U.S., which was recently re-launched with a technology upgrade to include a revised accident prediction and severity model that he developed.Daniel led the development of railroad simulation software that is unique in its ability to integrate infrastructure information directly from PTC systems.He has led as Principal Investigator two studies for the Transportation Research Board resulting in published reports. One study was to investigate the comprehensive costs of HRGC crashes, the other was the development of a web-based railroad simulation tool.He has conducted aviation studies for the U.S., Canada, and internationally.He was previously Exec VP of Hickling Lewis Brod (HLB) Inc.
