I have a wealth of experience in varied fields of work, ranging from hairdressing to mental health, via retail and DJ-ing. I'm now settled in my career as a therapist and see this as the future; continuing to grow and develop, and helping others to do the same. In addition, I deliver LGBT+ affirmative therapist training as an independent trainer. In 2023, I proudly wrote and delivered the first ever regulated qualification in the UK for therapists working with LGBT+ clients. Training therapists to work confidently and effectively with LGBT+ clients takes me all around the world. I'll go anywhere there are people who want to work with me and learn about this stuff.Aside from being a therapist, I founded the Warwickshire Pride charity in 2011 and currently serve as Chair of Trustees. Warwickshire Pride supports LGBT+ people across Warwickshire and aims to create a world in which all LGBT+ people can live freely and openly, without fear of discrimination and hate. Services run by the charity include youth groups, parents groups, a trans group, telephone and email support, LGBT+ and trans awareness training, consultancy, advocacy, coffee mornings, and the annual Warwickshire Pride festival. I've written for the HuffPost, a number of local publications and The Gay UK. My first book, 'The Self-Care Bible', was released in 2015. A third book, 'How to be an LGBT+ Affirmative Therapist - Part 2: Intersectionality, Shame and Guilt", came out in 2024. The next edition in the series is currently being written, due for release in 2025.As an elected Warwick District and Town councillor, I'm very proactive in supporting residents and communities. I'm a member of the Audit & Standards and Licensing committees at Warwick District Council, and a member of the Community & Culture, Economic & Tourism, Finance & Policy, and Planning committees at Warwick Town Council. I also serve as Deputy Leader of Warwick Town Council.

Hypnotherapy And Counselling Skills TutorChrysalis Not For Profit Feb 2017 - May 2023Birmingham, United KingdomI taught the one year Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Counselling Skills as a self-employed tutor for Chrysalis at their Birmingham, Bristol, Peterborough and Warwick venues. The role involved training students to become hypnotherapists, using skills such as empathy, active listening, questioning, and of course hypnosis and basic counselling. I was also a case study marker, online hypnotherapy and NLP tutor, and blog writer for Chrysalis. In addition, I wrote and delivered webinars and CPD that focused on different aspects of equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility, and occasionally presented the Chrysalis on the Couch online chat show. In this role, I also wrote the UK's first regulated qualification for therapists working with LGBT+ clients. -
Campaign AssistantWarwickshire County Council Mar 2010 - Sep 2010Warwick, UkMy role was to work with young people and external agencies to reduce the rate of teenage pregnancies and STI's in Warwickshire through sex education and awareness. I also had to help meet the needs of those who had become a parent in their teenage years. Building a rapport with disadvantaged young people and remaining calm in challenging situations were core personality traits required for this role. -
Community Mental Health AssistantRethink Mental Illness Sep 2005 - Nov 2006Leamington Spa, UkMy role with Rethink was to support people with severe mental illness (i.e. Schizophrenia) to become increasingly independent upon leaving institutions where they had been sectioned. This involved supporting the service users in every aspect of their lives to assist with their recovery from mental illness, teaching independent living skills such as budgeting, menu planning, forming friendships with local people in the community, and accessing employment. This was a sometimes extremely challenging role, but ultimately very rewarding.
