R. Daniel Carter practices in both litigation and transactional matters, with a particular focus on Federal Indian law & Native American law, renewable and nonrenewable energy resources, and regulatory compliance. Daniel’s litigation experience includes federal, state and tribal courts, as well as administrative appeals and alternative dispute resolution. On the transactional side, his experience ranges from new business formation to nine-figure financings. Prior to private practice, Daniel worked as a counsel for the U.S. Senate Committee on Indian Affairs where he worked on federal legislation and policies important to tribes, entities and individuals living and working in Indian country. Daniel grew up in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, the heart of the Osage Indian Reservation, and is an enrolled member of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, a federally-recognized Indian tribe.
