In 2007, New York rose to #1 from #14 in North America for the number of completed corporate attraction and expansion deals.Prior to New York, Dan was the Executive Deputy Secretary for the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. He was responsible for directing operations approaching $1 billion annually and helped implement a $2.8 billion economic program. Before this, he was the Assistant Secretary for Business Development with the State of Maryland. As chief marketing official, he launched a global strategic plan focused on key competitive industry sectors.Dan has also led economic and workforce development efforts at the county and city levels. He produced Baltimore County’s first economic development operations strategy and a land use concept for developing 3,300 acres of industrial land near the fast-growing Port of Baltimore. More than $1.5 billion of development occurred or was announced during his tenure there. His career began in Philadelphia where he worked alongside corporate leaders to develop nationally acclaimed public/private partnerships focused on improving conditions in impoverished communities.
