Assistant Professor

Scott & White Healthcare; College Of Medicine, Texas A&M Health Science Center

Design and implementation of clinical research projects in Surgery, Podiatry, Orthopaedics, Urology, Nursing. My main focus is the translation between clinical questions and the appropriate data collection and statistical techniques needed to answer the clinical questions. I also play a role in teaching physician scientists to learn to critically assess the research articles that may influence their clinical practice, both by one on one discussion, and through participation in journal clubs.I am also maintaining several active collaborations with microbiology researchers from Texas A&M, chemists from Baylor, and biologists/computational biologists from the Texas A&M Health Science Center. The nature of these collaborations is more computational in nature, and calls on my bioinformatics expertise.Editorial Board Member: Frontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology

Postdoctoral Research Associate

Here I carried out computational biology research under the tutelage of my mentor, Dr. Vincent VanBuren. We developed two tools of interest for biomedical researchers:StarNet: http://vanburenlab.medicine.tamhsc.edu/starnet2.htmlThis tools allows elucidation of putative gene regulatory networks, via analysis of large sets of microarray experiments.TreeHugger:http://vanburenlab.tamhsc.edu/treehugger.htmlHere we explored a novel method to determine enrichment of Gene Ontology terms within a set of differential expressed genes extracted from a microarray experiment. We also worked closely with other researchers in the department, providing bioinformatics research support.
