Process Development Engineer
Staff Technical Support Engineer
As a Technical Support Engineer, I support external and internal customers to NI, with a variety of applications centered around the NI platform, ensuring their success. This includes: - Supporting the sales team with product knowledge and ensuring the hardware meets the technical requirements of their customers - Supporting customers with applications like HIL, Automated Test and Data Acquisition, using tools like NI LabVIEW, TestStand and VeriStand. This can be support for helping customers set up our tools, debugging applications during development/deployment, and performing code reviews to ensure the project adheres to best practices. - Teaching NI product courses, including advanced LabVIEW courses, hardware courses (DAQ or FPGA), and application specific courses for Automated Test and HIL (TestStand and VeriStand). - Training and mentoring new members of the support team to help increase their technical knowledge, but also softer skills to help intereact with customers to ensure our customers are successful.
Staff Field Marketing Manager
Working in the AE team gave me a passion for teaching and presenting. Working in the Sales team gave me an understanding of how engineering and business works together. The field marketing role allows me to combine these skills, and gives me the opportunity to work directly with customers, teaching them about NIs offerings, as well as learning from them about industry trends and the challenges they face.My responsibilities in field marketing include: visiting customers to discuss key industry trends, present technical content at NI hosted events and industry conferences (such as NIDays and the AESIN conference 2019), and supporting the sales team to help grow business for NI in the automotive industry.
Applications Engineer
In my 2nd stint in the Application Engineering department, my role is split between technical customer support, mentoring new graduates and interns, and minor marketing activities. The technical customer support role consists of supporting customer applications via phone and email, as well as teaching customers both hardware and software courses, in industry and academia. These courses have include:- LabVIEW Core 3- LabVIEW Machine Vision- Developing Test Programs Using TestStand (TestStand 1)- Architecting Test Systems Using TestStand (TestStand 2)- Plus a variety of customised courses for different customer needsIn my second role as a mentor, I help train the new graduates and interns the technical aspects of the job (mainly the courses described above). I spend 50% of my time not only helping to improve the technical skills, but also growing their soft skills such as verbal and written communication and how to efficiently manage their time. In my role as a mentor, I have also run an Instructor Skills class, helping to train the new set of graduates of to teach the courses. In additional to the roles described above, I take an active part in marketing activities for the company. For example, I have helped to write an number of case studies which are linked below.NI run a competition called the Engineering Impact Awards, which judges the case studies on what impact they have on society or in there respective fields. I was on the judging panel for the awards, where I had to mark approx 30 case studies, narrowing it down to 12 finalists.
Technical Marketing Engineer (Rotation)
A temporary rotation into the Technical Marketing Department at NI. My main responsibility was to organise the Aerospace and Defence Forum (ADF) in Reading, UK, the 2nd largest NI event in the UK. This involved organising the agenda, presenters (both internal and guest), hands on tracks, and the exhibition with demonstrations of NIs systems. Other responsibilities include reviewing case studies, attending trade shows and delivering technical presentations at events such as the LabVIEW Developer Days.

The Engineering Program consisted of 2 roles:1) Applications Engineer:This role consists of technical customer support where I supported customer applications via phone and email, as well as teaching customers both hardware and software courses, including:- LabVIEW Core 1, 2, 3- Data Acquisition and Signal Conditioning- Embedded Control and Monitoring (Real Time and FPGA)- DIAdem Basics- Multisim and Ultiboard2) Sales Focus on supporting academic institutions, primarily colleges and universities. Understand the needs academics in a large range of applications, such as teaching and research. Have a high level of technical knowledge to ensure that academics purchase the right product. Help to give all those in academia, whether students or researchers the skills to become successful engineers and scientists.Whilst these roles, I was involved in marketing and addition proficiency activities: - Case studies, - Hands on Taster events - NI LabVIEW Developer Days.
