In this regional role I am primarily focused on creation and implementation for compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations for several sites in several states, primarily in the central portion of the United States. This includes training of all associates, and ensuring our company has a work environment that is both safe and healthy. I conduct auditing and monitoring efforts for my region, investigate and mitigate incidents as well as prepare reports and address environmental concerns. I play a vital role in keeping the business operational, profitable and engaged with its employees.

In this role, I am responsible for corporate and divisional safety procedures as the Environmental Health and Safety Manager. I work directly with over 600 associates in both a union and non-union environment, which includes all on-boarding training, job-specific training, powered industrial truck certifications and training, management of all workers compensation claims, incident investigations, inspections, audits, as well as Manager for all Food Safety and Sanitation procedures in a million square-foot warehouse. This position also includes all compliance requirements and being the point person on any Federal, State, or local requirements in regards to HACCP, Tier II, PSM, USDA, OSHA, EPA, etc. I have streamlined our learning and employee training by creating interactive digital learning courses. I have reduced our environmental footprint through minimization of generated wastes. I have also successfully reduced accident claims and associated costs by 70% over the previous 10 year average.

Some of my contributions included management of all Safety, Health and Environmental program development and oversight in multiple locations across the United States. I managed to ensure all organizational Safety & Health goals were met in both General Industry and Construction environments. I undertook efforts as the Risk Manager; ensuring comprehensive risk management is developed, tracked and implemented across all business and vendor units throughout the organization. • I developed and delivered training processes and have created all Safety, Health & Risk compliance programs to ensure organizational safety and health goals are met. I managed all workers compensation claims and investigations, in addition to ensuring all insurance requirements for the organization. I also worked to ensure business continuity and disaster recovery plans are in place, practiced and comprehensive.• While collaborating closely with senior leadership team to drive organizational goals, I performed statistical reporting on KPI’s and other leading indicators for Safety, Health & Risk. I also completed market visits for auditing and training purposes with colleagues to ensure compliance and enhance visibility.

As the Safety & Security Manager, I was directly challenged with developing a fully comprehensive safety program for our organization. With roughly 600 employees and vast differences in job responsibilities, program and procedural development was as rewarding as it was challenging. Project creation included Hazcom/ GHS, Lockout/Tagout, Electrical Safety, Contractor Safety Program, Ergonomics, Fire Safety, Emergency Preparedness, Workplace Violence, Fall Protection, Etc. I also performed training seminars and new hire orientations on all safety/security procedures. Being in charge of security responsibilities for the complex, I was responsible for activities in the security department which included responding to and managing emergency requests for our residents, staff and guests. This can include but is not limited to; medical emergencies, thefts, accidents, assistance, managing EMT/PD response, welfare status checks, etc. as well as managing our keyway systems, access control, card access and CCTV systems, all with assistance from a team of highly qualified security officers. All of the above helped ensure Lakeview Village, as the largest non-profit continuing care retirement community in Kansas, continued to be the best place to live, work and grow.
