Profile bio

About Daniel Copeland

As the Head of Growth and Assurance for Safety at Uber, my team manages safety risk across a broad portfolio of new products that will eventually be as indispensable to daily life as a typical UberX. These new verticals include taxis, package delivery, Uber for Business, Health, High-Capacity Vehicles, Intercity, and others. Our team assesses the riskiness of these products and implements solutions to build a robust safety foundation for healthy, long-term sustainable growth. The team also proactively manages safety risk through our assurance program, whose objective is to bolster Uber's safety ecosystem by ensuring safety controls and systems perform as intended. In my previous roles at Uber, I supported improvements to the effectiveness, fairness and defensibility of the company's safety controls, most notably within platform access (screenings), but also including important improvements to our deactivations work, Safety Management Systems and safety policies and standards. Prior to Uber, I led teams of SMEs, data analysts, and survey experts to evaluate the impact of international development projects across Latin America, Europe and Asia. I worked with MSI, one of the premier evaluation management consulting firms in the international development space, where I conducted evaluations and assessments in countries as diverse as Colombia, Liberia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Mozambique, and Senegal.

Listed skills include International Relations, Program Evaluation, International Development, Project Management, and 4 others.
