South East Queensland's largest infrastructure project consisting of 5.9 km of twin tunnels under the Brisbane River and the CBD unlocking the transport network's bottleneck. Cross River Rail will allow more trains to run more often to enable a turn-up-and-go transport system for the whole of south east Queensland.As an Environment and Approvals Advisor for the Cross River Rail Delivery Authority, my role encompasses wide variety of tasks and objectives including but not limited to the following:Reviewing and reporting on the contractors Environmental Management Plans that have been prepared in line with the Outline Environmental Management Plan which provides site specific environmental management requirements associated with the relevant Project Works.Monitor the implementation of the Environmental Management System (EMS) through the implementation of the mitigation measures and processes outlined in the contractors Environmental Management Plans and Sub-Plans. Provide monthly reporting summarising compliance with the Imposed Conditions and monitoring results as part of the Project's approval process set out by the Coordinator-General.Attend weekly site inspections with the Independent Environmental Monitor and the contractors to inspect current work activities and active environmental controls measures implemented to meet environmental outcomes and comply with the Imposed Conditions.

Woolloongabba Soil remediation and site preparation works (Building Demolition, contaminated land and earthworks): - Client based roles and responsibilities include: contractual management, project assurance and reporting.- A personal key aspect was to provide a level of oversight on the contractors management of the contaminated spoil volumes being removed from site which had a large impact on meeting time and cost targets. Brisbane Transit Centre Coach Terminal relocation facility (building and civil, utilities, license agreements):- Client based roles and responsibilities include: overseeing the close-out of defects, managing the license agreements for the coach operating companies. - A key personal responsibility was to help facilitate 16 coach operators with new lease agreements to operate out of the newly built coach terminal facility. This task was achieved within a short timeframe and required a coordinated approach to negotiate acceptable outcomes for parties involved.

Had the privilege to Work with the Environmental Sustainable Design (ESD) consultants, developing documentation that allowed employees to better understand the implementation of the WELL Building Standard rating tool within Australian design practices. The documentation compares the WELL Building Standard to the well known Green Star rating system and identifies what is required to go over and above the Green Star requirements in order to become compliant with WELL. I am truly thankful to Umow Lai for the opportunity to be a part of such an elite service driven team!
