Absorbed responsibilities of the Canadian Controller upon his exit in 2018. Additional responsibilities included all Canadian tax filings Federal, SR&ED, and sales tax (GST/HST, QST, and BC PST). Added to the Board of Directors as Treasurer, focused on review and signing of resolutions. Presented quarterly financial results to corporate accounting. Successfully led project of transitioning routine accounting functions to Malaysia (Transfer pricing calculations, intercompany entries, accruals, and adjusting journal entries). Managed monthly close for Canada, meeting corporate reporting deadlines with 100% consistency.• Completed a CRA international transfer pricing audit with a zero re-assessment. • Instrumental in ensuring Canadian payroll did not overpay employees during transition from Dell. Canada was the only country that was able to post accurate payroll entries and did not require an external auditor to determine accuracy of payroll payments post-transition. Identified >100K in overpayments that were quickly recovered.• Part of the accounting team responsible for amalgamating Canadian Metalogix entities into Quest. • Successfully segregated the SonicWALL entity from Quest and transitioned SonicWALL accounting to the new finance team. Trained new accounting group who became fully independent within a month.

As part of the controllership team, was responsible for the accuracy of the Canadian financial statements. Performed month-end adjusting entries for payroll, fixed assets, revenue adjustments, and accruals. Completed monthly account reconciliations for half of the balance sheet accounts and reviewed the Controller's reconciliations. • Developed a payroll data uploading application. The application eliminated an hour of manual work for each payroll specialist while improving the process’s accuracy.• Constructed a payroll query using the ADP GL tool to extract the payroll data required for journal entries and payroll analysis, enabling the data to be imported into pivot tables allowing for easy variance analysis.

Along with providing General Ledger month-end duties, including adjusting entries, account reconciliations, and monthly analysis of statements, I was the Canadian systems specialist for all financial implementation projects. Projects included Oracle Financials R12 upgrade, creation of Canadian fixed assets tracking system, Trintech Cadency System of Controls (SOC) utilizing financial close tracking, and balance sheet reconciliation. Worked regularly with operations manager to evaluate office expenses to ensure costs were inline & identify potential savings.• Took over quarterly historical cost adjustment calculation that was consuming 100 hours of corporate accounting time, and developed an accurate/efficient model that calculated the f/x adjustment by entity. New model decreased completion time from 100 hours to less than 10 hours. • Designed and developed an employee coding system. System linked employee coding from the HR database to expense reports, invoice coding, and payroll files. The new system eliminated all manual coding. • Created digital expense statement that was user friendly and eliminated coding errors while saving input time for A/P.• Played a key role in Quest Software Canada, passing Sox404 compliance.
