I am currently an Assistant Professor of Chemistry Education in the Schmid College of Science & Technology at Chapman University in Orange, CA. My main research interests are using theories of motivation and STEM identity to better support students in STEM classrooms and programs. I am an ardent proponent of active learning (particularly social constructivist pedagogies) as a means of achieving equity through education. I am an Education Associate for the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) and a member of the Editorial Board for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Education. I also Chair the Fellowships Committee of the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB) and sit on the IUBMB Education and Training Committee. I am currently the Director for the NSF-supported Inclusive Community for the Assessment of Biochemistry Learning (ICABL), and I am a member of the NSF-supported BioMolViz learning community, which seeks to advance the assessment of biomolecular visual literacy.
