I work on the Bing Speller team creating models from massive amounts of data in order to better understand the intent of user queries. Together with a small team, I helped develop a new system that currently produces the spelling results for the majority of queries served by Bing, yielding large increases in quality as determined by internal metrics.

I work in Query Understanding at Bing on the Data Sources team creating models from massive amounts of data in order to better understand the intent of user queries and serve up ever more relevant search results.

Perform research in natural language processing with a focus on using Bayesian model-based techniques to cluster corpora of documents. Implement clustering algorithms and metrics in preparation to submit papers for publication. Dissertation work centers on topic modeling in the context of Optical Character Recognition errors.Also serve as a TA for CS 679 a.

Performed research in computer and network security. Designed a privacy policy negotiation protocol as part of master’s thesis work. Maintained and enhanced research prototype software for trust management and negotiation. Adapted lab technical papers to create an informational RFC that will be submitted to the IETF. Gave presentations on special topics in.

Performed research in machine learning on large data using a maximum entropy model on many node clusters. Designed and wrote back-end code for the Google Prediction API. Co-authored a paper that appeared at NIPS 2009.
