Originally from upstate NY, my family moved around a bit, first to New Hampshire and later to Singapore. Having the opportunity to live overseas, travel all around that part of the world and experience the food(!), sights and culture was incredible. It also gave me gratitude for how good we have it here in the USA.I've always been interested in Economics and Math and enjoyed studying those subjects at CMU. Naturally, I gravitated toward data-centric jobs after graduation. Sadly, much of my time was spent dealing with tedious things like collecting, cleaning, and transforming data to be just right for the more interesting work of analysis and helping to make data-driven decisions. Unwilling to tolerate this inefficiency and do things because "that's the way we've always done it", I started learning how to automate these processes. First through VBA, and then via R and Python scripts.Eventually, with the help of many online resources and some amazing, selfless coworkers, I've had the opportunity to learn and use other skills like SQL and JS. Now I primarily work on back-end code and databases - it may sound strange to some, but I love it.Outside of work I like watching hockey and UFC, as well as cooking great-tasting food!
