I started in the role of Customer Care Specialist in 2014 but was promoted to Team Leader in 2016 and held this position until I left the company this year. My position at LifeDirect was a hybrid of an Account Manager, Relationship Manager, Team Leader and Insurance Broker. In this role I was the first point of contact for my team of eight, our clients and the insurers we worked with. I reported to two senior positions above me - the Head of Insurance (Executive Board Level) and the Office Manager. We worked with the top seven insurers in New Zealand and I regularly liaised with their Business Development Managers and Key Account Managers to ensure we maintained healthy relationships with each of them and that we were meeting each other’s business needs. In this role I helped clients apply and take out personal insurance cover – ranging from Life Cover and Health Cover to Income Protection and Mortgage Repayment Cover. We helped our clients through the entire journey – from completing the application questions online/over the phone to discussing the outcome with them – these discussions were often of a sensitive nature, as they concerned the client’s state of health.
