Work as the electrical engineer SME for the R&D department under the Anesthesia and Emergency Medicine (AEM) business unit. Provides electrical technical expertise in new product developments. Active in prototype design and brainstorming, including system level design and Arduino coding to build out prototype concepts. IEC60601 training received to help ensure products are adherent to stringent medical device requirements. Conducts research associated with prototype development to generate innovative and original solutions. Works with a cross functional team to determine user requirements on new products and develop product specifications that adhere to those user requirements. Works with outside vendors when needed to develop business partnerships to help bring concepts to life. Experience with Altium Designer to prototype PCB boards, and Embedded C training for coding prototypes when required.

Continued with overall test station design and development on more complex systems. Began transition to more project management roles, including role as a cost account manager (CAM). Developed proposals and bids on future projects using Basis of Estimates (BoE) to provide supporting evidence for cost, schedule, and manpower requirements. Presented to program managers and worked in tandem with leadership personnel to finalize bid documentation for award. Developed schedules and budgets for each test stations under awarded contracts, which each contract requiring 2 to 6 different test stations to be managed. Responsible for project documentation (including Plan for the Plan, kick-off documentation, monthly tracking book presentations). Assumed direct reports to lead through the full contract lifecycle. Direct reports ranged from 2 to 8 engineers (contract dependent) and full cross functional business unit support including quality, procurement, process engineering, etc. Responsible for monthly earned value and metrics updates and reporting to program managers on current contract status. Involved with personnel performance evaluations and feedback.

Increased responsibilities included system level lead, developing and building test stations from project initiation to delivery. Assumed more of lead role for deliverables by leading personnel from cross functional units (procurement, quality, manufacturing, etc.) to accomplish required tasks to maintain budget and schedule. Increased responsibility in developing requirements for test station design. Developed and presented preliminary and critical design reviews to customers and stakeholders. Expanded technical writing skills by writing manuals and troubleshooting guides for test station operators. Continued gaining design experience with test station and lower-level component design and development. Joined department hiring team and conducted quarterly interviews with prospective candidates to fill needed roles within the department. Increased responsibilities included more system level design, specifically designing and developing not only components and control chassis within the system but also designing and developing interconnects, specifically cabling and wiring harnesses. System design included developing solutions with both custom hardware and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) equipment and how to successfully integrate them to meet requirements. Continued design work on chassis and system component design (i.e. PCB design) with the added task of incorporating custom VHDL control systems. VHDL tasks included coding, signal layout, synthesis and implementation, utilizing both Lattice and Xilinx CPLD and FPGA products. Also developed testbenches to verify code design prior to implementation into hardware. Worked with team members on integration tasks and performing verification and validation activities for system sell-off, included writing verification and validation plans for test stations. Task level lead, designing and developing circuit card assemblies and custom RF chassis for system test stations for the Test Development Department (TDD) under the Electrical Design Directorate (EDD) of Raytheon’s Integrated Defense System (IDS) sector. Collaborated with vendors on board specifications and worked to maintain scheduling and costs of components. CCA design included component selection and schematic capture with OrCAD. Increase responsibility with troubleshooting hardware and implementing hardware fixes and updates. Helped to develop preliminary and critical design reviews with team members.

Worked on both electrical and mechanical aspects of hardware design. Software packages utilized included OrCAD and AutoCAD. Employed Mentor Graphics for circuit card assembly design and PCB layout. Performed troubleshooting on circuit cards as well as developing solder skills to replace card parts. Practice in developing systems from design phase through implementation, including part identification, build process, and troubleshooting.
