Whether it's interning at a legislative branch office for a state senator to working on meaningful campaigns as a canvasser and voter registration volunteer or spending time as a writing coach, resident teacher, and now 6th grade ELA teacher for Chicago Public Schools, I've sought opportunities to learn and grow in each of my career and life experiences. Since my undergrad as an Anthropology major, and before, I've been interested in how people and societies organize themselves, educate themselves, choose their leaders, and guide their progress. I've chosen to participate in careers that advance my understanding of these core questions and place myself firmly in the center of these big ideas. As a lifelong learner, I recognize that my work will never be done and that there will never be an end to what I can learn, build on, or achieve. In my personal life, my biggest passions are reading, writing, and traveling. I've spent a great deal of time writing for myself and now seek out opportunities to write technical or informational pieces in my areas of expertise or in fields that I find particularly interesting. Research and analysis don't scare me, they excite me! They're another example of exploration and growth. Reading is at the heart of all education and examination, that's why I have made a career of teaching kids how to read, helping them discover what they want to read, and showing them how to analyze what they read. I've been lucky enough to travel for recreation since gaining employment and am on my way to visiting all of the rich cultures and people that I only used to read about. I would be overjoyed to find a position that would allow me to travel and explore as an academic, teacher, writer, or as an agent of change in some meaningful way. Lastly, I want to highlight the importance of communicating. The way we learn best, the way we change ourselves, others, and our world is by talking and working with one another. I have been very fortunate to have found mentors, coaches, guides, and friends who have helped me along my path. The least I can do is give back by offering my knowledge and insight to whoever seeks honest thoughts, opinions, or ideas. I'm always willing to talk and think through ideas, big or small.
